Tusker2Zero wrote:These are just my quick initial thoughts here on the way I'd like to see it:

SEALS:
=========
1.) Swim
2.) Start out with an elite veterancy rank.
3.) Better accuracy (a better kill to wound ratio on the randomizer)
4.) Capture buildings (tech structures) faster than normal ZH infantry.
5.) Has the GLA vehicle hijack ability
6.) Has knife fighting abilities.
7.) Stealthed while in water only (if this can be coded in this way)

Normal Marines:
=========
1.) Swim (much slower than Seals)
2.) Grenades - Not only for damaging vehicles and such, but also allowing the marines to clear out garrisioned buildings with a much quicker and higher rate of success compared to normal ZH infantry with normal flash-bangs.
3.) Better heavier automatic weapons with better armor piercing rounds than normal ZH infantry.
4.) Regular Marines not stealthed.

Special Ops Marines:
=========
1.) Swim (much slower than Navy Seals, but faster than normal Marines)
2.) Better heavier automatic weapons with better armor piercing rounds than other infantry.
3.) Sniper ability - Allowing the special op Marine to manually switch to a light sniper rifle during battle. Upon achieving max veterancy, while in sniper weapon mode, this special ops unit can attempt to snipe vehicles.
4.) Special forces marines stealthed.
5.) Better accuracy (a better kill to wound ratio on the randomizer)
6.) Possibly able to call in for some combat air support depending on aircraft availability (my randomizer idea from previous posts).

Army Rangers:
=========
1.) Fastest land moving infantry units in the game.
2.) Rangers are able to climb mountains.
3.) Able to deploy Claymores, mines, and build IEDs.
4.) Has all of 'Col burtons' explosive and knife fighting abilities.
5.) Better and faster healing stats.
6.) Possibly able to call in for some combat air support depending on aircraft availability (my randomizer idea from previous posts).
7.) Better accuracy (a better kill to wound ratio on the randomizer)
8.) Start out with normal veterancy, but advance in ranks rather quickly.

In summary, The Seals would specialize in stealthed capturing and hijacking. The Marines would specialize in heavy duty enemy killing, and advanced clearing of garrisioned structures. While the Rangers specialize in explosives and other creative pursuits.

Excellent Ideas Thumbs Up!

Aren't SEAL's kinda like a rambo unit?
Did you guys hear the story of those terrorists who tried taking over an american cargo ship west of africa on the Indian Ocean I believe. SEAL's where HALO dropped into the ocean, where they swam up to and took over the boat. Then simultaiously killed 2 terrorist floating in a lifeboat which ran out of gas carrying them and the captain away.
Why not make SEAL's in the game the elite unit that is trained in all other spec ops specialities? Mountain climbing, swimming of course,
allowing them to do things that would take multipule other units to accomplish or things that other units simply could not accomplish because of terrain or special abilities.

A true kick ass op Special forces - Page 4 109560 - fast, precise and effective.

I'm not sure if it's the same situation you were referring to, but some pirates hijacked the Maersk Alabama (causing an hostage crisis) some days ago (April 12).

Here's the CNN article on it:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/04/13/somalia.rescue.breakdown/index.html

The USS Bainbridge (DDG-96, an Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer) followed the pirates and the SEALs eventually sniped the armed captors and rescued the crew.

In a sense all special operators will have a wide array of abilities but due to subdivisions we may need to add unique/exclusive abilities to certain forces (due to balancing reasons).

all I'm saying is you've created all the infantry units you can, they all have a wide variety of skills, now you have the problem of moving a whole bunch of people to the target. Some climb mountains, some go swimming, some have stealth, some don't. It makes it pretty hard to remain inconspicuious. Why not pick a unit that encompasses the capabilities of other specialized units, like Rangers, Green Berets, Marine Expeditionary Force. Instead of having #'s upon #'s of all of those, start producing a soldier with all their capabilities with some exclusions of coarse(and only after you have unlocked the best of the rest.)

Fear not, infantry in general will have a healthy amount of skills Thumbs Up! (all soldiers are able to camouflage themselves for instance).

Special operations are obviously expanded in that sense but the new skills won't be dictated by the special branch (SEALs or Force Recon for example) but rather by their class (Sniper, Medic, etc.). In the case of the European Union for example, each class (or a couple of classes) will feature a different special operations force, this way we are able to have a great diversity and several elite forces working alongside under the same command).
