Too true, extreme times may require extreme measures.
There is also the widespread belief that Stalin was an evil guy comparing to other former Soviet leaders, but the truth is that Stalin was even criticized by Lenin from being "too soft" (there is sort of an illusion that Lenin was much softer than Stalin, which was not the case, not at all).

Lol yeah, that shoe was very unexpected, but still humiliating (given the fact that it's considered as one of the most humiliating forms of attack in the Muslim World).

Bush was a scapegoat, given the fact that he was the president and some controversial issues like Iraq combined with the image that the media gave of him made him one of the most unloved American Presidents. This can be a very clear example of the media power over the populations (I mean, it's not news that they didn't properly given a "good" image of Bush to the public). Another thing is, that he was the president, but decisions like the Iraq war weren't only his (there's much, MUCH more to it, really...), Bush just became the flag carrier and the "object" which the public blame for the war.

Hitler managed to pull Germany out of a great economic and social depression, the problem was when he started to become paranoid (he eventually started to become more and more paranoid, and as result, we all know what happened).
