I never played the new COD, though I hope to play it soon enough
The next COD will be on modern day battlefield yet again (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 aka Call of Duty 6).

I love SOCOM's, in fact I've been hooked on'em since SOCOM 1.
I never played Combined Assault though I have SOCOM 3 (CA is SOCOM 3's expantion).
I also have some SOCOM's for Playstation Portable (PSP), kinda strange at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll love'em

Re: Favorite Games / Mods
I was stumbling around looking at different mods just to see what's new and i came across a half life mod called "Empires"that combinds RTS & FPS, now it's a little futuristic which isn't my bag, andthe graphics aren't all that and a bag of chips (atleast from what I've seen on you tube, but games are usually grainier on utube anyways) but the concept of the game was pretty cool I thought.
You have one person that is a commander that has the kind of zerohour POV with a good view of the battle field where they can issue orders to other players, well here...

Fantastic concept if you ask me .
Battlefield 2 also has a Commander's View (the player can zoom in, kinda like a Satellite perspective of the battlefield) but we can't do the same things that are possible in that mod.
When I heard of C&C Renegade at first (the fps C&C) I thought we had a similar concept like the one on that mod.

Re: Favorite Games / Mods
Recently I found a way to play Battlefield 2 offline (single player mode) and have a sort of an offline ranking system.
Battlefield 2 is mainly dedicated for multiplayer, I used to play it's online mode a lot back in the day, but the net connection wasn't too fast and caused a lot of lag (and some high pings as well, not good for a smooth gamin' ), so my main gaming mode is single player.
Fortunately there's an excellent Single Player community around BF2 which has modded it and adapted it to give a much better single player experience than the original BF2, my favorite BF2 mod is Allied Intent Xtended, a superb mod in every sense (top notch), which was initially created for the ultimate single player experience (and multiplayer as well).
Here's their mod site:
http://www.aixtended.com/
I have played countless BF2 mods, many of them are excellent and personal favorites, but AIX is my favorite, it's unrivaled when it comes down to content, quality and gaming experience, this is one of those "must have" mods by all means .
If you guys have BF2, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this masterpiece

IF youre still looking for a good mod to play you can try out VGO its a pretty good realism mod but it only has one side released so far (VC & ARVN are still in development while NVA is in some of its last WIP stages)Jarhead wrote:What are the best Zerohour mods out there? I will have to check it out.
Lately I've been playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Absolutely love this game
Shooting out of a "Spooky" at 6 mi high with a FLIR type vision
There's a Sniper level that has just about everything I ever wanted from a FPS in just that level.
It could use some underwater demo type SEAL stuff, or an artic type board would be nice. Or even if they included the paratrooper element of medal of honor.
Overall this game is just kick @$$!

I love COD4 (both single player and multiplayer), the single player mode is sweet but in the end we want more (more action and levels), the multiplayer is awesome, I was surprised to see how well the game runs (I was surprised with the low lag on most servers).

Love this mission. This is the tail end of the mission, the begining is pretty good to.

I wish we could incorperate some of the ideas they use in CoD MW, such as carrying injured comrades as well as a lot of other things.

Re: Favorite Games / Mods
Nice mission.
I think one cool idea for TOAW to have based on what I saw here would be a SAR Chinook that has four to six preloaded infantry that would pop out after the Chinook landed and lay down coverfire at the LZ. They would provide coverfire until the downed pilot or other rescuees were picked up, and then the preloaded infantry would automatically reboard the Chinook and take off.
If the mob logic infantry squad thing can be worked out, it would be nice to have replacement soldiers spawn every few minutes so that the player doesn't have to worry about reloading the SAR Chinook after soldiers are killed off from the rescue mission.
... and needless to say, the other great idea here in the video for the mod would be claymores. Lots and lots of beautiful claymores!

Amen Tusker, Amen.
I like both of those ideas very much. This game is full of great ideas, some of which are probably impossiable to code, but many the game would benefit greatly in my opinion.

That's a fantastic idea, when you mention SAR there are three particular helicopters which come into my mind:
- MH-47D SOA;
- MH-60L DAP;
- HH-60L.
I just hope the squad logic works out, but fear not because it's still on top of the table
About the Claymores, I think it's safe to assume that certain Special Operators will have'em.
Btw, the Blackhawks will have their own pages soon once brand new renders of each separate variant are prepared (that way each variant haves it's own place on the sunlight , plus it's more organized that way).

Absolutely, coding is when the real probs begin (it can be either easy and simple, or a truly complicated and complex thing ).
The coding phase is when the $hit hits the fan sometimes, not pretty

I dont think so (unless someone finds a way to have door guns work correctly) SAGE seems to hate door gunsTusker2Zero wrote:By the way, for the mod will the HH-60 be armed?Snake wrote:That's a fantastic idea, when you mention SAR there are three particular helicopters which come into my mind:

thats why CWC's UH-60 and VGO's UH-1 have no door guns.

Re: Favorite Games / Mods
The particular HH-60 variant won't be armed (it's the most defensive black hawk variant), though we want to add door guns to some of the helos (MH-60K, MH-47D, etc.).
I think it's possible to add such weapons by using certain logics, I'm pretty sure that Marc already managed to include miniguns on Blackhawks on some old alpha tests last year (experimental basis), I had some images of such weapons in action though I'm afraid I don't have'em now (those images showed two UH-60's with door guns and their respective gunners firing them).
Once weapon stations and their gunner models are prepared, expect to watch new renders of the Blackhawks and Chinook.
We want to include several types of door mounted weapons (which will vary on the helicopter and vitally on the helicopter class).

If you manage to get door guns to work properly, this mod would be the first I've ever seen to do that
and with a ground breaking achievement like that, it would help the ZH modding community out greatly.
So good luck!

Battlefield 2 / Battlefield Heroes
Battlefield 2 (v1.50) Beta Patch was released some days ago (kinda strange after playing the 1.41 version for so long).
The patch itself is considerably large (1.26 GB), you can download or check it here:
http://files.filefront.com/Battlefield+2+v150+BETA+Patch/;13636794;/fileinfo.html
In addition, GameSpot is giving away tons of free Battlefield Heroes Beta Keys:
You can get your key here:
http://www.gamespot.com/event/codes/battlefield-heroes-beta/
I got mine yesterday, better hurry up if you're planning to participate on it's beta .
New features:
- Additional support for Windows Vista.
- Added Highway Tampa as a required map.
- Added a new map called Operation Blue Pearl.
Gameplay Tweaks:
- Changes made to both the J10 and F35B to make them more balanced. Please note that the J10 is a superior dogfighter to the F35B and as such these two aircraft will never be equally matched.
- AA targeting tweaked to make it more effective.
- Added checks to prevent "runway grieving".
- Various changes made to prevent cheating.
- Tweaked the hit detection, hits will be more accurate to the model.

I'm still waiting on a decent mod for Call of Duty Modern Warfare. That game has so much possibility besides the fact the graphics are simply beautiful. Once a good mod comes out for it I am definately getting it for PC. If you haven't played it I highly recommend it.

Re: Favorite Games / Mods
I used to play COD4 online a lot back in the day, awesome game
I think current CoD4 modifications are mostly mini mods
I remember watching various mini mod which added some new weapon skins, the EOTech holographic sight - which the Marines use on the M4 with the grenade launcher on the single player mode - and various modifications to add extra online game modes).
I'm not sure but I suppose Call of Duty 4 is not be too "moddable" (sadly).
I would love to have a "Weapon Modification" feature for games like Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas (to allow the player to mount various weapon attachments for example).

Jarhead wrote:I was playing call of duty... 4 I think and I was thinking. Wouldn't it be nice to take a game like zerohour and integrate it into a first person shooter so you could hop into the first person POV and tear it up for a while, then maybe jump into a tank and command it, each person developing their own armies and abilities. Teaming up to invade other armies homelands. Using 2 monitors running the same program from different perspectives for each player. Or even just using one for game controls. Just an idea.
I believe there is a game like that coming out called MAG(Massive Action Game). Its based in the future (but still realistic) and supposed to support some 200+ players and you work your way up through the ranks and command platoons, squads, and companies of players themselves. I dont know how they're going to control the sizes of armies as far as deaths go but they probably won't use the point system used be COD4 (maybe the commander buys reinforcements before a game starts, IDK). There is no website to post, so just type in Massive Action Game in google in google and check it out .
