- F-19: Some say it's the F-117 (take a look at the story of the "117" designation on the net, it does have a point) or simple disinformation/public sensationalism;

- Aurora: There's no actual proof, but the actual "Aurora" might simply be a prototype of an hypersonic recon aircraft (which would probably replace the U-2 and SR-71);

- TR-3A Black Manta: I'd say it would be a creative way to manufacture a new generation of actually "affordable" (cost-effective) B-2's (each B-2A must cost something between $2.3 to 2.5 billion dollars or even more right now, it's price is unthinkable, even for such a military power such as the US, so the Manta would probably take care of many of these problems);

- F/A-37 Talon: Fictional plane from the 2005 movie Stealth.

if the US don't reconsider the f-117 they will sell them

The YB-49 served a great purpose as inspiration for the modern B-2 Spirit.

Yeah, the actual "Aurora" is a very known name the general public uses, the "no proof" part I was referring was the fact that it may have been "officially" designated currently designated as such.

"The news date back to 1990, the magazine Aviation Week & Space Technology first broke the news that the term 'Aurora' was inadvertently released in the 1985 U.S. budget, as an allocation of $455 million dollars for "Black aircraft PRODUCTION" in FY 1987."

"According to Aviation Week, Aurora referred to a group of exotic aircraft projects, and not to one particular airframe. Funding of the project allegedly reached $2.3 billion in fiscal 1987, according to a 1986 procurement document obtained by Aviation Week. However, according to Ben Rich, former director of Lockheed's Skunk Works (now the Lockheed Advanced Development Company), Aurora was the code name for the B-2 stealth bomber competition funding, and no such hypersonic plane ever existed."

That is where the famous "Aurora" name spread out to the general public (it was an instant hit), EA used it to create that fictional Generals Aurora bomber.

There are many sightseeings of hypersonic planes through the 80's and 90's (which people automatically associated with the "Aurora"), Lockheed Martin Skunk Works might have created this plane (since they are the "biggies" in experimental aircraft and created some of the USAF's most advanced planes).

In late 2007, DARPA and the USAF signed documents which agreed to start to build a Mach-6 UAV called the "Blackswift".

I'd say that the Blackswift will be a prototype for perfecting the next generation of hypersonic planes.

That is why I don't say there is an actual, unique "Aurora" aircraft (model), but rather a project or program to test advanced prototypes (it was probably done to prove the point of hypersonic fighters), pure speculation though.

Back in the 80's the Cold War frictions were still very active, the US sure did not wanted the Soviets to know the info on those hypersonic fighters.

Each time I check the mail I got tons of messages specially Gamespot daily newspaper (which I use to get news on some particular games).

Yeah, the actual "Aurora" is the popular name, it certainly isn't the actual one (just like it was stated on the other news article I posted earlier). If the Aurora name was the actual name of the project they would have simply changed it to avoid public attention.

I'm specially curious to watch which new CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) helicopter is the USAF going to choose, the current main candidates are the:

- AW-101 (previously known as the EH-101, aka "Merlin" as it is designated by the Portuguese Air Force and the British Royal Air Force).

- H-92 Superhawk Search and Rescue (SAR) variant:



- HH-47:



The HH-47 was selected by the USAF in late 2006, but there was a LOOOOOT of controversy (why the HH-47 was 'mysteriously' and almost automatically chosen to be the USAF's CSAR heli, and, of course, a huge, "over the head" budget which got over the limit...).
