That's one example of a Kinetic Strike we were talking about yesterday.

Unfortunately I'm afraid we won't include any WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction), that is due to the fact that we want to replace them all with more "conventional weapons", like tactical airstrikes or cruise missiles.

Though we can never compare the "power" of a Zero Hour 'tomahawk' missile (from the fictional ZH "tomahawk launcher" (which haves an extremely "dubious power" to say the least) with a true and much manlier TAOW Tomahawk Twisted Evil (Lol, note that TAOW's 'Tomahawk' was written with a capital 'T' to show off it's manly power Razz Laughing ).

Portuguese is a language which is very known to exist all around the world (during the 1500's, Portugal was the world's superpower and managed to colonize many countries/parts of the world, right now the main countries which speak the Portuguese language are:
- Portugal (obviously, it's also called "European Portuguese", the mother all Portuguese languages);
- Brazil (Brazilian Portuguese - South America);
- Angola (Africa);
- Cape Verde (Africa);
- East Timor (Asia);
- Guinea-Bissau (Africa);
- Mozambique (Africa);
- São Tomé and Príncipe (Africa);
- Macau (China - Asia);

(Note that the previous countries are the ones which have Portuguese as one of the main languages - "Official Language", there are also many other variations depending on the specific region/country), there are many other particular regions and countries where Portuguese is very spoken (some countries in Europe, North America, etc. due to immigrant population which form immigrant communities).

About Macau, Macau was both the first and the last European colony in China, it was eventually turned over to the Chinese Government in 1999 (I still remember watching the ceremony on TV), many Portuguese immigrants (and their families which were born in Macau and obvious ancestors which date back to the Portuguese settlement in the early 16th century) still reside there and the territory's main languages are Chinese (there is no unique "Chinese" language though, there are several variations) and Portuguese.
Just like Hong Kong, Macau (also known as Macao) is a Special Administrative Region which is highly independent from the rest of mainland China (the same happens with Hong Kong), both have their own particular Police Forces, law systems, etc.

I speak Portuguese (mother language), English, Spanish, French, Italian, a bit of German, Russian and Chinese/Japanese (not a lot though).

I prefer to speak in Portuguese and English.
About the Spanish/Italian and even French, these languages have similar ancestors (specially Latin Language which was spread by the Romans) and so can be considered sort of "sister languages", specially more southern european languages (Portuguese/Spanish/Italian which particularly share very similar roots).

At this moment we don't have plans of including AA Lasers, we are going to put a lot of emphasis on Self-Propelled Anti-Air vehicles though (such as the M6 Linebacker:)

We will want players to actually want to purchase Anti-Aircraft Vehicles (instead of just preparing one for "collection", know what I mean?) The same is with SAM-equipped (Surface to Air Missile) infantry (which will prove to be very vital).

Standard Anti-Air weapons compliment will usually consist of a double "Auto-Cannon / AA Missile Pack" (standard on all AA vehicles).

The Naval Mode will have many kinds of unique AA guns (such as CIWS's - Close-In Weapons System) and several AA missile launchers which will protect several ships (specially the most important ones).

Many thanks for the link, that's a really interesting article (and it's also very interesting since it's a Chinese point of view of the F-22 program).

I agree with the article, the F/B-22 will be quite an interesting idea to include in the future decades, I mean, the project itself is just basically a "ramification", a Medium Bomber variant of the F-22.

The F-22 project costed a staggering amount of 62 Billion dollars (62.000.000.000$, that's a LOT of 0's Shocked pale ), so they can "easily" create a new bi-product by using the research conducted on the F-22 (basically make the most of the F-22's highly advanced technology since it took so much investment).
This means that the research cost for the F/B-22 would be immensely decreased since most of the research was already conducted on the F-22 (much cash would be saved this way).

In terms of design, I love it, it's like making a parallelism between an F-16C and an F-16XL (specially because of the delta wing design).

The main issue on the F/B-22 is, just like it was on the F-22 (not mentioning the research costs), the cost-per unit (1 F-22 = 137.5 million dollars), I think it's a very risky strategy to suddenly start to pull out the F-15/F-16 and F/A-18's all of a sudden (it can cause an "Air Force Vacuum", many operational aircraft being replaced by a much lesser number of planes is risky for now). However the USAF is planing to replace those earlier "F"'s as time goes by.
The F/B-22 certainly proves to be a very interesting medium stealth bomber, this plane could take the roles of the F-117 and later on the F-15E (though I think it's rather too early to abandon the excellent Strike Eagle ).
Also it would be a very interesting new addition to the current US and NATO/Allied stealth family:
- F-22;
- F-35;
- B-2;
etc.

By the way, have you heard of the X-44 MANTA (Multi-Axis No-Tail Aircraft)?

That plane was studied by the USAF and NASA to test an even stealthier design than the one of the F-22, (no movable parts, no tail = + stealth) according to the X-plane document we got (the NASA monograph) the altitude manipulation was purely based on 3D thrust vectoring Shocked .

I also agree about the F-16XL part of the article.
The General Dynamics F-16XL lost to the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing IDS's F-15E Strike Eagle, though the F-16XL is certainly a really interesting Enhanced Tactical Fighter (ETF) version of the good'ol F-16.

We are not sure at this moment, but we would certainly like to include an AWACS (Air/Airborne Warning And Control System).

The new AWACS designation is popularly changing into "AEW&C" - Airborne Early Warning and Control, but I prefer "AWACS", sounds much better Razz (classic is better lol! ).

Actually we have 4 "Generals" Razz , the other admins are:

- Carnage18 - who is unavailable because he is joining the US Army and learning how to crew up an M1A2 Abrams tank 8) ;

- the other admin is called Tank50), he is creating his own Command & Conquer 3 mod called WW3 Darkfire and once he releases it, this forum will also host his mod, he's most probably the earliest forum member (besides Marc of course) and also helps us with TAOW's development 8)


About the Tomahawks, at this point, the main variant (specially for the DDG-1000 Destroyer) will be a different one:

RGM-109E Block IV "TacTom" (Tactical Tomahawk):

This will be used in Naval Missions and will be the main Anti-Ship / Ground cruise missile launched from US Ships (notably the DDG-1000 Zumwalt as stated earlier):

Most probably it'll be an unlockable General Power (probably unlocked by a special "promotion point", or it'll be automatically awarded to the player once he/she reaches a high rank.

Yeah Sad Sad Sad , my timeline is different than yours, actually me and Marc and Smooder (one of our main team members) also noticed that prob (me and Smooder live in the same timezone, while Marc lives in the US, there's a big (about 5 or 6 hour difference between me/Smooder and Marc pale Sad , but we eventually got used to the timezone differences.

Exactly, basically the idea behind Kinetic Strikes / Bombardments is to launch bombs (specially high velocity rockets or missiles) at very high altitudes (high altitude bombers / satellites) and then making them crash upon the target at extremely high speeds, the power in this case comes from the gigantic kinetic force generated upon impact rather than the explosive material the projectiles carry (like standard missiles).

Wow, thanks man, we would greatly appreciate it Wink , we certainly wanted to expand ourselves to other sites, other communities (since moddb is the main modding site which is hosting TAOW) but unfortunately we are simply too few to be monitoring every site (only me and Marc are monitoring our sites/mod profiles) and if we created a new mod profile on another site we would either commit ourselves with dedication to watch over it and answer every question as soon as possible or simply not start the profile (we do not wish to create a "distant mod profile", the kind of mod profile in which the leader/member only responds to question three months later).

One of the main reasons for wanting to expand TAOW to other profiles is to let more people know of the project (we know there are many other people out there that were waiting to get their hands on a realistic ZH mod, and only very few mods managed to accomplish that since most "realism-based" mods basically died over the years (even great classics and favorites).

Another reason is the fact that only Moddb is basically hosting us (the only major site), we have a small presence on any other site, and that's the main reason to "concentrate" our efforts in this forum as the ultimate TAOW meeting point.
At this point the forum is still young (but it will eventually keep growing bigger and bigger as we get more and more attention).

Check the next Moddb graphic, it shows the public attention towards the mod, take a look at late October (when we updated), as you can see the mod view hit reached over 1000 views, that is due to the fact that our mod was hosted on the front page of the site, however after a simple single day our mod was removed from the front page and the view rate dramatically decreased.

On one hand we must acknowledge the simple fact that Moddb hosts many mods (thousands and thousands) and every mod has the right to be noted, on the other hand it's kind of a disappointment for the team (which was working on the major update for at least several months earlier, then the update was hosted for a few, mere hours and was basically vanished from sight again, the rest of the public attention was basically part our great Moddb modwatchers (which are increasing exponentially, which is definitely good news and are supporting us).

For those reasons me and Marc had a serious meeting to discuss new alternatives to our standard Moddb profile, not because we are looking for such lowly objectives such as fame but rather to the fact that we are gamers, and as gamers we know that the lack of realistic Zero Hour mods was one of the major causes of old Zero Hour (and even Command & Conquer) players/fans starting to gradually abandon the forum communities ("deserting" so to speak), so we wanted to let many of those ex-players start to cleaning the dust off their Zero Hour dvd's and reinstalling them again and actually having fun and reminding the "good'ol times" (2005, so people can share a bit more of those great times when forums were full, etc. yet again).

Unfortunately, the team is simply too small for being able to moderate other forums on other communities (we have our hands full between moderating the forum/current communities and creating the mod itself), so we started to think of alternative choices for letting people know about TAOW. We will create a bunch sexy-looking Sigs, which will allow people to spread extra info about the mod, etc.

I'm afraid not, the project was 'supposedly' canceled, (even though the project looked promising and so did the idea behind it).

That's a very interesting question, at first we always wanted to include submarines, but at this point, we aren't sure (we are 50/50% on that issue know what I mean?)
If we are to include subs, these will most likely become the last naval vessels to be included (that is due to the fact that we would need to create unique anti-submarine warfare units).

Our Naval Mode priorities at the moment are:
- Ship Modeling (including skinning, and at a later point coding);
- TAOW Mapmaker (our custom TAOW mapmaker which will allow people to create a much richer and realistic environment for standard and Naval Missions);
- Transport Ships (LCAC's / Amphibious Assault Ships / Aircraft Carrier coding, etc.)
- Inclusion of new units (submarines??? scratch ).

- Small Assault Crafts (with several roles) -» Will be included;
- Helicopter Carriers -» Will be included under the form of Amphibious Assault Ships (AAS);

Certainly, all ships will be named after their class rather than their specific designation, for example:
USS Gerald R. Ford - CVN-78 -» Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carrier

We will include details to the smallest scale, so you will be able to identify the particular ship by looking for the Hull/Deck Numbers (which will be based on real life as well, details are going to be extensive Razz, specially on aircraft, where we'll have many "skin variants" per model, for example, you may have A-10's with several emblems/paint jobs in a single game, etc.).

I'd say all ships will be epic in a way or another Smile , specially the HUGE aircraft carriers, Amphibious Assault Ships, Cruisers, Destroyers, etc.

did anythin happen to you yesterday (dramatc thing)?

Coz me yesterday , me and some guys went to a shooting ally (target practice)
Results: From 10metres (in portugal do we mesure in meters?)

I: hit the shot perfectly
1rt guy: hit the shot perfectly
2nd huy: hit the shot on board but not precise
3rd guy: shot it off board , the bullet recocheyed off the (metallic) walls and went threw MY LEG!!!

LOL and OUCH!!!! man a 10mm bullet

did anythin like this happen 2 u? lol!

As a matter of fact, there was some drama two days ago, while I was loggin in these forums a commotion started outside (in the streets and the neighborhood), a bunch of vehicles from the Fire Dpt. were parking in front of my neighbors house (I counted 1 Ambulance, 1 Fire Truck and 1 Command Vehicle), there was an accident and their house was starting to catch on fire affraid , fortunately the firemen managed to contain the flames 8) , rough week eh???

Yeah, and we can't discount the fact that we may be "volunteered" (aka: our instructor automatically including us on an activity against our will) as targets for the Taser Shocked Shocked Shocked (which spec ops are really starting to use to capture hostiles).

By the way, yup we use metres here in Portugal (kilometres / centimetres).

yeah i'm alright . the doc sais that i can't Run on it for 2 months

the tazer shocks the nerval systems , therefor inflicting a humongus pain , though doesn't damage physicly (depends on the number of walts shot on the tissue)

Damn, now you're gonna have a hard time to move around, may you heal up fast Wink

The Taser is one heck of a piece, there are many people around (internet tough guys) that think they can fight the Taser's current lol! , little do they know that their body wouldn't simply respond and would get immediately incapacitated.

I'm sure you saw this documentary, Future Weapons, even those huge guys (Marines I suppose, according to the flag they got on the wall) drop almost instantaneously:





ya know strangly , i'm american and i'm more used to metres/centimeters/km etc...

I'm used to miles/inches as well, but I prefer the meter/metre scale.
