New Standard US Weapon Poll

Speaking of which, we'll have various German Units in the European Union faction (like the Leopard 2A6 tank or the Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard ( I obviously copied the name from Google ).

If you know people who could probably voice act these units in German, we would be greatly appreciated (we aren't voice acting for the EU units at this point though).

I took a couple years of German, its been a while but, I also have a friend who took alot more German than I did (Purdue University guy). Give me some examples of what you want to say and I will get it translated.

The lines weren't determined yet, but I'd say we'll include more "generalized" lines like (for example):

- "Guarding Position!";
- "Moving in";
- "Under Attack!".


And some more "specialized" and vehicle-specific lines like:

- "Firing Sabot!" - Leopard Tank
- "Blanketing the sky with 35mm fire!" - Gepard

Basically some small and direct lines (some lines like the Gepard example are a bit longer though).

On my case, I think I could do some German lines, we would have to have someone to check the accent and spelling though (to make sure it's "realistic" and correct, that is specially vital when it comes to Russian Language).

In fact I think we can probably create an unique topic for each language (for example, one for German, another one for Russian, etc.) so our voice contributors can also communicate between each other in order to propose certain unit lines

The XM8 is taking the cake at this point, I'm quite curious to watch which weapon will be the one to be chosen (we're gonna announce this poll on moddb on the next update which is very near) and it'll surely rack up a few extra votes.

The vote difference isn't too big so there's always the chance of having any other weapon anytime after announcing the poll on moddb.

What do you guys think of silencer upgrades so a unit can stay stealthed while firing,
(this would mean without it even a prone soldier would be seen when firing.)
higher up the tech tree of course.

Some special ops soldiers will use suppressed weapons (to make them even stealthier), some regular infantry units like scouts (Recon Infantry) will probably carry suppressed weapons by default (one idea I had was to have a suppressed sidearm for certain units like snipers for close range defense though it's just a concept).

I just watched a show on the military channel that was about the sniper competition they hold each year at Fort Benning Georgia where swedes, irish, Americans probably some others that compete to be named best sniper team. They were mentioning how important it was for snipers to have sidearms because how unweildy it is to use in confined curumstances. I really like the idea of a sidearm but with limitless ammunition on your assualt rifle whats the point. (kinda sucks but what can you do?) To me it seems pretty realistic for a pilot or something like secret service/CIA or something, but then you would need stealth (prone position) in order to not be detected as enemy approaches or the ability to stealthily close the distance.

Absolutely, sniper rifles are generally ineffective at closer ranges so a sidearm may mean the difference between life and death (specially since a sidearm is mostly meant to be used at close ranges and for self defense roles, thus making them effective defense weapons)

In this case only certain units would receive a handgun/personal defense weapon (specially more "special" units like spec ops and snipers), assault units (infantry equipped with assault rifles, machine guns, etc.) would have other weapons like grenade launchers.

Also, some units like Heavy AT (Javelin-equipped soldiers for example) may probably carry unsuppressed handguns or submachine guns for close ranged defense.

This is just a theory though (we gotta test it ingame to watch it's impact and usefulness).
