snake you think i can get an empty case for the l85 and add my own custom airsoft parts in it? i'm not sure if it's possible...
I think it may be possible, the problem is with the parts compatibility, most AEG's these days are usually easily changed with other parts but there's always the chance that they aren't compatible (you must take a very close look before the purchase).
If you're looking for a great model which is balanced with price/quality, and that can be easily compatible with many accessories, then I recommend you buy a middle quality model, it's a bit more expensive but compensates.
The lower quality models are usually produced of smaller quality plastic and have a tendency to break much faster when you're trying to modify it or when certain parts are stressed (that's why we call those the "Wall Hangers" (mostly for collection and room decoration ).
In the L85 case, I think it may be possible depending on the producer, I just took a look at ebay and check these images:
It MAY be compatible on most cases, I'd advise on asking the seller first.
If the weapon uses a top rail, then it can easily accept a great type of scopes and attachments (in this case it haves the ACOG replica and a flashlight).
This ebay model supposedly costs US $28.99 (+ US $11.99 from shipping), though I HIGHLY ADVISE you to investigate the sellers first and check their feedback to avoid being ripped off.
Here's the link to that particular business:

EDIT: Note that that that's a springer, which means it needs to be cocked after each shot.
Usually, an AEG costs about 60 bucks (more or less depending on the producer).

OUCH!!! It's like being hit by an M203 BB shower (hundreds of BB's per shot), NOT GOOD
Check this airsoft RPG-7 (for the airsoft fanatic):
Note the shell mechanism, we load a standard 40mm container (like those of an M203) on the RPG and voila:

Predator reenactment anyone??? (MP5's + Minigun)
Even though, an airsoft Minigun is for a special class of airsoft fanatic (specially the one which haves more cash, much more cash preferably ).

Yeah, sometimes it's a major pain when we are forced for having to use pla$tic to buy stuff , in the last years credit cards have basically become the standard payment method.

I'm afraid it won't work, these springers are very tough to fix when they break (mainly because we can't normally open them like higher quality AEG's, this means that changing them to an AEG is extremely difficult if not impossible).
Even though, a springer is a pretty good alternative for collection (plus a springer usually hurts more than being shot by a lower quality AEG , which is always an extra ).

Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
lol true, i guess i'm gonna buy it anyways.
i have a paypal account but i'm getting problems with the credit card. it says he accepts money order, but there is an immdediate payment required sign on there so i can't select the money order. i contacted him about it. chances are i will be able to get it.
So i'll get the sa-80 and use it as my sniper rifle, i'll need a new aeg though.
anyways g2g bro peace >

Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
man i think i might get a scar L or something. it uses m16 m4 mags so i'll have a total of four working mags. then i'll have a total of 2 rifles. all i need afterwards is a pistol. the cool part is i looked on ebay and the scar is in my price range.
Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
Nice!!!
I also love the SCAR, I would definitely love to buy one and specially equip it with the special grenade launcher (Mk 13 Mod 0 EGLM 2000 - Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module), which is a modified version of the F2000's grenade launcher), just look at these sweet airsoft SCAR's:

Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
Yeah , I'm afraid that the grenade launchers still cost a fortune though
I also wanted to buy an AG36 for my G36, but I might wait till the price drops a bit more.
This particular EGLM grenade launcher is still very expensive ($205.00 ), even though, this very same model is currently sold out:
These SCAR + GL combos are pretty expensive (ranging from 400 to 500$ ).
I'm afraid that SCAR's are still kinda expensive, even though, some more "accessible" brands are starting to release cheaper models.
Check this site:
http://www.gunnerairsoft.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=scar&x=13&y=10
Note that SCAR's prices vary wildly (from 80 to 440$ ).

Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
snake, i found out the l85 guy said that it's his last one and he's i'm lucky to get it even though it says he has about 4 left. oo well. he also said the scope maginfies a little bit, but he is kind of a little in-experienced when it comes to airsoft, i asked him if i could turn the l85 into an aeg, and he didn't even know what an aeg was.
but oo well, i'm getting an l85 with iron sights AND acog scope. i got nothing to complain about.
i'm also gonna add the acog to my m4 which i have finally decided to get. i'm just gonna get another boyi/d-boys m4/m16. just the rifle no m203 or nothing. but i already have an m203.
and to finalize everything i'm going to get an ammo box to make my gun look like a machine gun.
can't wait

Yeah , that particular site is located in Hong Kong, the airmail is very expensive (depends on the weight of the delivery though), I'd recommend you try some US-based sites or even ebay (there are a lot of airsoft retailers in the US), though the prices are obviously higher (coz of importing costs, taxes, etc. but the models are generally cheaper).
One of the most famous US-based retailers I remind is Airsplat.com , this site is US-only so I can't give you any exact feedback (some people love it, some don't), here is their site link (as far as I know, they sell all kinds of airsoft guns, from the cheaper models to the high quality ones):

They always say it's their last model (so they can sell'em quicker).
About turning that L85 into an AEG, I'd say it's near impossible , those particular models are specially used for collection (even though you can use'em on an airsoft match, I did a long ago and even won many matches with my old school standard M4, my main weapon now is an M4A1 AEG).

Nice!!! I love the ACOG when it's used on the M4 (a friend has one).
About the ammo box, you're sure it's compatible with those guns?

Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
yeah fits all standard m4 magazines. the boyi m4's uses the common magazines. they didn't go with a custom made m4 mag they went with standard ones to maximize compability. which is awesome unlike the m83's magazine. the m83's mag is custom made and dosn't fit in other m4's.

Nice
With a 5000 BB round box you won't ever need to carry BB's around (you just take the box ).
I love the fact that the new magazines are becoming "standardized", I mean, I can buy a medium quality weapon and buy a Tokyo Marui or Classic Army (some of the top of the line makers) mags, equipment, and even gearboxes (to customize the weapon, not to mention that we can fix it much faster than having to sift through the net to find a specific part).

true that, alot of parts are becoming more compatible with each other
Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
About the box mag, I advise you to carry it on certain occasions and have the standard mags equipped normally (that is due to the fact that the box can do a lot of pressure on the magazine-holding spring, know what I mean?).

Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
yeah. the one for the magazine release button. thats true, the box could become pretty heavy and put alot of stress. but the magazine box is plastic. while my magazines are full metal. so my magazines are actually pretty heavy. the box hopefully shouldn't weigh too much more than the mags even when loaded. maybe only 2x as heavy.
Re: AIRSOFT / MILSIM DISCUSSION
Well, if the original mags are of metal, then the springs gotta be stronger and should have no prob to carry the box
